Give to Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread@Union
Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread@Union is entirely supported by private contributions from our participating organizations, foundations, corporations, and individual donors. We have provided more than 350,000 meals over 30-plus years without a dollar from city, state, or federal sources.
Since we have no paid staff and no formal office, you can be assured that effectively 100% of any contribution will go to pay for the food, meal supplies, staff training, and clothing for free distribution to our guests.
And SSB is an independent 501 (c) (3) corporation, so donations typically are tax-deductible.
How to give:
Your organization. More than 25% of our annual support comes from the participating organizations who also provide the volunteers for the program. These organizations typically make a regular contribtion as part of their outreach efforts and as a way of supporting their members. If you volunteer through an organization, please support its financial contribution to SSB.
Your employer. We have received contributions from many corporations whose employees volunteer at Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread. This may be in the form of a match to an employee’s donation or an independent contribution. Please check to see if your employer would match an individual donation – or even make a separate contribution.
You. Individual donations are an important part of our support. You can send a check (payable to Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread) to:
Eliot Kaplan, Treasurer
52 Ackers Ave.
Brookline, MA 02445
Or, if you prefer, you can click here to make a donation through PayPal:
Food: We receive weekly donations of bread and pastries from Trader Joe’s, however, we purchase most of our food so that we can plan a program of healthy, tasty meals.
We do not usually accept donations of food!
Toiletries: Our guests welcome donations of toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. It’s important for us to have enough to meet the needs of 100 or so guests at a time, so we collect these items for periodic distribution. If you would like to gather toiletries at your organization or place of employment, you may bring them to normal volunteer hours.
